Lights, Camera…..action!!

I am taking a lighting class this summer.  Last night I went out to practice with off camera flash.  Translation…..I put my flash on a light stand and strive to get a properly exposed image!  I am slowly starting to understand how I need to set my camera and flash and where to place the lights in relationship to my subject in order to get the image that I envision.  I have really been wanting to try this on the dogs, but for some “reason” they won’t just sit there and smile…..Or they give me this sort of look!……but wait a minute….is that an Aussie smile I am seeing?

They were intensely mole hunting last night, so I decided to light the mole hole and sit back and wait!

Yes, they came!  Spyder was the most active, and because of my flash, I was able to capture his motion……….!  Be sure to note the flying dirt and those pearly white teeth!

…….and in the END!  It was a face that only a “doggie Mother” could love!  But nooooo kisses….PLEASE!

And last but definitely not least, Taylor was being a perfect model and I was able to accomplish what I set out to in my lighting!  ….now if her owner would just trim those eyebrows so her eyes could be seen!

Barbara Zehner - Great action photos. I especially like the muddy face. We see way to much of that here. Moling is a favorite pass time here.
