Now that is the best kind of client to have!

It seems like we have had so much rain lately.  Starting on Friday, I participated in 3 days of herding lessons with Dianne Deal from Idaho. Spyder and I had a great time and  I feel quite certain, gained some new skills.  Saturday night, my husband and I went to the Northwest Film Festival at the Portland Art Museum to see the documentary Sweetgrass! Although this movie was filmed in Montana, it was such a blast from my long, long past!  It was about a family owned sheep business who summer pastured their sheep in the mountains in Montana.  I grew up on a ranch in Colorado with sheep and cattle and there were many similarities throughout the entire movie.  The cinema photography was absolutely gorgeous and it was a very realistic representation of that lifestyle.  I highly recommend seeing it if you have an opportunity!

So when I happened to wander by the area where the young lambs were hanging out at Brigands Hideout (Battle Ground, Washington), I just had to grab my camera and join them for some photo ops!  I slipped into their pen and sat down.  At first they were giving me the once over, but pretty soon they went about their day and I was able to capture some fun shots!  I don’t think that I would classify this as pet photography, but they sure were fun to watch!  These lambs are around  4 months old.

I just have to mention this last image on the left!  This was just some sort of old wooden box that only had a back and two broken sides, but these lambs kept arguing over who got to hang out in the box!  It was quite entertaining to watch!

I was shopping at the mall the other day and I found this guy at The Pottery Barn for Children!  No way could I leave him there.  I can’t wait for my granddaughter to “discover” him at my house today!  I have named him Harvey, for now….but she may have a different plan!

Have we ever been getting snow here in Oregon. It looks like we are going to have a white Christmas this year. I can not remember ever seeing this much snow for as many days since I left Colorado! I am absolutely loving it. The good news is that I can stay home and watch it and not have to venture out into the world of insane drivers! I have truly enjoyed the challenge of taking photos in the snow. Since it is something that I have had infrequent opportunities to experience since I started getting serious about my photos, there has been a steep learning curve. I do think that I am slowly starting to “get it”!!! I thought that I would share some of the shots that I took this morning. The first one I took from my front door. I probably should find some sort of snow shovel!!!

Now, for THE THREE LITTLE BEARS!!!! While looking through my snow images, I noticed that I had taken pictures of our deck bears on several different days during this storm. It definitely shows the progress of the snow!!

  1. I was attending a clinic and really wanted to absorb as much as possible.
  2. The weather did not always co-operate.
  3. The puppy pen had terrible lighting and I did not take a flash!
  4. My subjects would just not stay still……..LOL!!

 

I am only putting up a few shots on my blog, as I am not terribly happy with my photography, but I adore the subjects and want to share.  I am putting an album of the shots on my Smug Mug site for anyone who needs or wants more “puppy” fixes and is forgiving of the image quality!

Someone had gone to a lot of trouble to carve these huge pumpkins, but if you look up at the top of the lane you will see that they were being well guarded!

We had a great time picking out seasonal decorations from this little colorful self-service shed!!!

I forgot how fun it is to do these “kid” things. I have this feeling, that with Morgen being only about 6 months old, that the “older” kiddos had more fun!

First we took a ride on the train that took us through the haunted tunnel!

Then Morgen picked out the perfect pumpkin!

Then we took a ride around the lake on the paddle boat where we saw a very scary sea monster!

How beautiful is the Colorado blue sky anyway..????There was a quaint, old abandoned church that was fun to photograph from different angles and with different types of light.I loved it’s roof and steeple!….and of course I had to attempt one with my little Fisheye!  You can tell that this one was early in the morning……there is even a self portrait shadow in the right hand corner.  I always forget to think about that, especially before I have had my coffee!!

I was not worried about my white balance, because I can fix it when I shoot in RAW, but it is not such an easy fix in jpg.  I shot a couple of images with my flash, but then decided to switch to just using a high ISO.  Anyway, the short story is that my colors are off, but you can still get a view of beautiful little Morgen!  I hope to go back and try again this coming Tuesday.  I will definitely pay more attention to my settings!

You can see how intent she is about watching what is going on!  The little sweetie is working on her first tooth as well.The one shot where I used flash….quite a difference in color!  But I still did not show off her baby blues!! Now, one more to just show the “impish” side of her. Do you think that Morgen has her Aunt Reilley wrapped around her cute little fingers?
